About the Artist
Charl Lane Elias, aka Miss Charlie, was born in Texas in the late '60s. With a childhood hugging the Gulf Coast, her aesthetic was heavily influenced by living in New Orleans during the '70s, as well as the tapestry of cultures and eclectic underground music and art scenes pervading Houston in the '80s. Training in the fine arts included the Glassell Museum School, Rice University Summer School and private tutors. Eventually embracing photography as her medium in 1988, she was providing custom darkroom services, negative restoration and documentary photography for a private historic archive within a year of washing the fixer off her first print.
Moving to NYC in the early '90s, Mrs. Elias' first job there was with the Whitney Museum of American Art. Part of the IT group that launched the Whitney's very first web site, Charl was also an original member of the team digitizing visual records for WMAA's Permanent Collection. She went on to provide digital imaging and interactive services to companies as diverse as Nomura Securities and ACI. As both Operations Manager and occasional designer/developer for the original Viacom Interactive Services group, her clients included the Sundance Channel, MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, and Viacom Corporate Public Relations.
An exhibiting artist, Mrs. Elias has shown locally in ASA's Landscapes for Landsake and Kim Klopstock's 50 South. Internationally published, her work has been seen in Punk Rock Confidential, American Salon, Unique Hair Arts, the Saratogian, the Schenectady Gazette, Well Wed in NY, and Saratoga Femme.
Now working from her own studio in upstate New York, Charl has created a niche as Miss Charlie, offering modern boudoir photography services for women. Miss Charlie's wonderful clients travel from all over NY state, VT, NJ, CT, PA and MA.
For the bride, Charl provides a host of stylish photography services, including bridal boudoir, commissioned bridal portraiture, and the ever-popular "Trash the Dress" sessions! Unique wedding day services are also available- including "Bridal Preparations Only" and "Formals Only" options.
